Craigie

   1) CRAIGIE, a village, in the parish of Dalmeny, county of Linlithgow, 2¼ miles (E. N. E.) from Kirkliston; containing 75 inhabitants. It is in the eastern part of the parish, and in its vicinity is Craigie Hall, formerly the residence and estate of the Craigies, an ancient and considerable family. One of them was a witness to the original charter granted to the first laird of Dundas in the year 1120. In 1387, the heiress of the family married Sir John Stewart, who took the name, and his posterity continued here until 1640, when the estate of Craigie Hall was sold; it subsequently became the seat of the Hope family.

   2) CRAIGIE, a hamlet, in the parish of Caputh, county of Perth, 2½ miles (N. N. E.) from Caputh; containing 67 inhabitants. It lies in the eastern part of the parish, and adjoins the village of Cluny on the east side.

   3) CRAIGIE, a village, in the East parish of the city and county of Perth; containing 219 inhabitants. It is situated on the west side of the river Tay, and a little south of the city, of which it forms a suburb. It is a pleasant village, and in its vicinity is the site of the old castle of Craigie, which belonged to the Ross family.
